Frequently asked questions
How do I choose a dive centre in West?
Check that the centre is an SSI training centre, the instructor-to-student ratio, what is included in the price, the condition of rental equipment and how recently the listing was verified. Ask whether open-water dives take place locally or on a trip.
Do I need a certification to dive in West?
Not for an introductory try dive, which is run under direct instructor supervision. For independent recreational diving you need an entry-level certification such as SSI Open Water Diver, and some sites require more experience, such as SSI Advanced Adventurer.
When is the best time to dive in West?
Singapore's local sites can be dived year-round, but visibility is usually low. Many Singapore centres schedule open-water training on trips to Malaysia or Indonesia.
