Pulau Aur diving guide
A remote island in the Johor Marine Park, popular for weekend trips from Singapore, with clearer water and pinnacles further offshore.
About diving at Pulau Aur
Pulau Aur sits far out in the South China Sea within the Johor Marine Park, a long boat ride east of Mersing. Its distance from the mainland is its biggest strength: the water is usually much clearer than on the coast and the reefs see far fewer visitors.
Aur has long been a classic weekend escape for Singapore divers. Trips are compact — travel Friday night, dive hard on Saturday and Sunday — and the island's rocky pinnacles and drop-offs give more 'blue water' diving than most sites close to Singapore.
What makes Pulau Aur special
- Offshore pinnaclesRocky pinnacles rise from deeper water around the island, attracting schooling fish and the occasional larger visitor passing through.
- Clearer, bluer waterBeing far from river run-off, Aur often has noticeably better visibility than coastal sites — a welcome change for divers used to Singapore conditions.
- Twin island with Pulau DayangAur sits beside Pulau Dayang across a narrow channel, so a trip covers sites around both islands.
